Palm Sunday commemorates Jesus Christ's "triumphal entry," when He entered Jerusalem on a donkey, fulfilling prophecy. Large crowds greeted Him by waving palm branches and laying their cloaks on the road ahead of Him as a sign of honor and respect.

Riding a donkey symbolized that Jesus came in peace and humility rather than as a war-waging king on a horse. It marks the final week of His earthly ministry, leading directly to His suffering and death on the cross, and then His resurrection three days later.
